Power Steering Fluid Replacement
Power steering fluid not only transfers pressure but also lubricates the pump and steering rack while dissipating heat. Over time, it loses its properties and accumulates wear particles and moisture. Regular replacement (every 2 years or 50,000 km) prevents costly repairs to the steering system.
Signs that the fluid needs replacement:
-
Humming or whining noises when turning the wheel (especially when cold).
-
The steering wheel feels noticeably "heavy" or turns with jerks.
-
The fluid in the reservoir has turned dark, cloudy, or has a burnt smell.
-
Foaming or bubbles visible in the power steering reservoir.
What is included in the service:
-
Draining or suctioning out the old fluid from the system.
-
Cleaning the power steering reservoir (including the built-in mesh filter, if applicable).
-
Refilling with fresh original fluid (ATF or specific hydraulic fluid).
-
Bleeding the system to remove air pockets.
-
Performance test of the steering system in all directions.
