Oil Pan Gasket Replacement
The oil pan is the reservoir that holds your engine oil. Over time, the gasket (or sealant) can fail, leading to leaks. This not only creates a mess and harms the environment but is also dangerous because a low oil level can lead to catastrophic engine failure.
Signs of an oil pan leak:
-
Fresh oil spots on the ground after the car has been parked.
-
The bottom of the engine is constantly wet or covered in oily grime.
-
A noticeable drop in the oil level on the dipstick between services.
-
A burning oil smell during spirited driving.
What is included in the service:
-
Draining the engine oil.
-
Removal of the oil pan (may require removing skid plates or subframe components).
-
Thorough cleaning of the pan and engine block surfaces from old gasket material or residue.
-
Inspection of the oil pickup tube/screen.
-
Installation of a new gasket or application of professional-grade high-temperature RTV sealant.
-
Refilling with oil and performing a leak test with the engine running.
