Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
The valve cover gasket seals the top of the engine to prevent oil leaks. Over time, heat cycles cause the rubber to harden and become brittle, leading to oil seepage. Replacing it promptly keeps the engine clean and prevents oil from leaking into the spark plug wells.
Signs that the gasket needs replacement:
-
Visible oil leaks or weeping at the top of the engine.
-
Burning oil smell in the cabin (when oil drips onto the hot exhaust manifold).
-
Oil found in the spark plug wells (detected during a spark plug change).
-
A noticeable drop in the engine oil level.
What is included in the service:
-
Removal of the valve cover and the old, worn gasket.
-
Thorough cleaning and degreasing of the mating surfaces.
-
Visual inspection of the valvetrain components.
-
Installation of a new gasket with specialized sealant applied to critical points.
-
Re-installation of the cover using a torque wrench to ensure proper bolt tension.
