Power Steering System Flush (Component Cleaning & Fluid Replacement)
Over time, the power steering system accumulates wear debris (metallic dust) and sludge. A simple fluid drain doesn't remove contaminants trapped in the reservoir or hose bends. A full flush with component disassembly ensures a clean system and protects the steering rack and pump.
What is included in the service:
-
Disassembly & Cleaning: Removing the power steering reservoir and thoroughly cleaning it (reservoirs often have internal mesh filters that get clogged).
-
Draining & Line Flushing: Disconnecting hoses to fully evacuate old, burnt fluid from the pump and steering rack.
-
Magnet Cleaning: Cleaning any magnetic traps of metallic shavings.
-
Fluid Replacement: Refilling with fresh hydraulic fluid meeting OEM specs (e.g., Dexron, Pentosin).
-
Bleeding: Removing air pockets by cycling the steering wheel from lock-to-lock while the front wheels are off the ground.
-
Final Inspection: Verifying smooth operation, checking for any whining noises, and ensuring there are no leaks under pressure.
