Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Service
Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) serves three purposes: power transmission, lubrication, and cooling. Over time, the fluid degrades and accumulates friction material particles, which can lead to overheating and valve body failure.
Signs that the fluid needs replacement:
-
"Hard shifts," jerks, or hesitations between gears.
-
Delayed engagement when shifting into Drive or Reverse.
-
Dark, discolored fluid or a distinct burnt smell.
-
Transmission slipping or entering "limp mode."
What is included in the service:
-
Draining the old fluid and removing the transmission pan.
-
Cleaning the pan magnets of metallic debris.
-
Replacing the transmission filter (if applicable).
-
Installing a new pan gasket.
-
Refilling with fresh ATF that meets the vehicle's specific OEM requirements.
-
Setting the precise fluid level at the correct operating temperature using diagnostic equipment.
