Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) Change
In a manual gearbox, the oil lubricates the gears and dissipates heat. Over time, it accumulates metallic debris, and its additives degrade, leading to stiff gear changes and premature wear of the internal components.
Signs that the fluid needs replacement:
-
Difficulty engaging gears or "grinding" noises (especially when cold).
-
Whining or humming noises coming from the transmission while driving.
-
Visible oil leaks on the gearbox housing.
-
Mileage exceeding 80,000 km since the last service.
What is included in the service:
-
Warming up the transmission for optimal fluid flow.
-
Cleaning the drain and fill plug areas.
-
Draining the old fluid and inspecting it for excessive metallic particles.
-
Cleaning the magnetic drain plug (if equipped).
-
Replacing the drain and fill plug crush washers/seals.
-
Refilling with fresh gear oil that meets the manufacturer’s specific viscosity and API ratings until it reaches the fill level.
